Legal
Terms of Use
The terms governing your use of Legals.ie. Last updated [DATE].
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using Legals.ie (“the Site”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
2. About Legals.ie
The Site is operated by Marketers Ireland Ltd, a company registered in Ireland. The Site provides educational information about Irish law, a directory of verified solicitor contributors, and editorial content reviewed by qualified solicitors.
3. No legal advice
The content on Legals.ie is general information for educational purposes only. It is not legal advice. Your situation may have specific facts that change the legal answer. We are not your solicitor, and using this Site does not create a solicitor-client relationship.
For legal advice on your specific situation, you should consult a qualified solicitor admitted to practice in your jurisdiction.
4. No referral relationship
Legals.ie lists verified solicitor contributors but does not refer specific matters or take fees per enquiry. We comply with Section 62 of the Solicitors Act 1954 and applicable Law Society of Ireland advertising regulations.
When you contact a solicitor through the Site, you are contacting them directly. Any subsequent retainer, fee arrangement, or solicitor-client relationship is between you and the solicitor’s firm, with no involvement from Legals.ie.
5. Permitted use
You may use the Site for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not:
- Reproduce, republish, or redistribute content without permission (beyond fair dealing/fair use)
- Use automated systems to scrape, copy, or harvest content
- Use the Site for illegal purposes or to harass any contributor or user
- Attempt to compromise Site security or interfere with service availability
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliations
6. User-submitted content
When you submit content to us (questions, comments, applications), you grant Legals.ie a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, and adapt that content for the purposes of operating the Site, responding to your enquiry, and creating editorial content. You retain ownership of your original submissions.
Do not submit confidential information, attorney-client privileged material, or details of ongoing litigation.
7. Solicitor contributors
Solicitor contributors are independent practitioners. Their inclusion on the Site does not constitute endorsement of their services by Legals.ie beyond confirmation that they meet our editorial standards (Law Society membership, declared specialty area, agreement to editorial review process).
We do not warrant or guarantee any particular outcome from engaging a listed solicitor.
8. Third-party content and links
The Site may link to external sources (Irish Statute Book, regulator guidance, news articles). We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or privacy practices of third-party sites.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Site and its content are provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We use reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy but make no guarantees.
To the maximum extent permitted by Irish law, Legals.ie and its operators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site or reliance on its content. This includes but is not limited to damages from legal outcomes that differ from what you expected based on Site content.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such limitation is prohibited by Irish law (including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence).
10. Intellectual property
All content on the Site (text, design, code, brand elements) is owned by Marketers Ireland Ltd or its contributors, except where stated. The Legals.ie name and logo are trademarks.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site at our discretion, including for breach of these Terms. For solicitor contributor accounts, termination rights are additionally governed by the contributor subscription terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by Irish law. Any disputes will be resolved by the courts of Ireland.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. The “Last updated” date reflects the current version.
