Important Notice
Information, not legal advice.
A short, plain-English explanation of what Legals.ie is and is not.
This site is information, not advice
Everything on Legals.ie is general information about Irish law, written for educational purposes. It is not legal advice.
Legal advice is specific guidance from a qualified solicitor who knows the facts of your situation, can identify the exceptions and nuances that apply to you, and can be held professionally accountable for the advice. We can’t do any of those things for you through a website.
When to consult a solicitor
You should speak with a qualified solicitor when:
- You are facing or considering legal action
- You have received a legal notice (eviction notice, court summons, etc.)
- Significant money, property, or rights are at stake
- Your situation involves dates, deadlines, or strict procedural requirements
- The general information on this site doesn’t seem to fit your specific facts
Our Find a Solicitor directory lists verified Irish solicitors offering fixed-fee initial consultations.
We are not your solicitor
Using this site, reading its content, or contacting our editorial team does not create a solicitor-client relationship. No information you send us (through forms, emails, or comments) is privileged or confidential. Do not send us details of ongoing legal matters.
We do not refer cases or take per-lead fees
Section 62 of the Solicitors Act 1954 prohibits per-enquiry fees between marketing platforms and solicitors in Ireland. Legals.ie is a directory and information platform, not a referral service. When you contact a listed solicitor, you contact them directly. Their firm is responsible for any subsequent retainer.
Verified solicitor contributors pay a flat annual subscription for profile placement. This is disclosed and bears no relationship to which solicitor you find or contact.
Accuracy and updates
We do our best to keep content accurate and current. Irish law changes — sometimes faster than we can update. Where dates matter, always confirm the latest position with a solicitor or the relevant regulator.
Each answer shows a “Last reviewed” date. If you’re reading an answer that hasn’t been reviewed in over 12 months and the topic is time-sensitive, treat it with extra caution.
Jurisdictional scope
Legals.ie covers Irish law (Republic of Ireland). We do not cover Northern Ireland, England and Wales, Scotland, or any other jurisdiction. Some Irish law derives from EU regulations and directives — where this is relevant, we note it, but EU law is not our primary focus.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Irish law, Legals.ie, Marketers Ireland Ltd, its directors, contributors, and editors disclaim liability for any loss, damage, or consequence arising from reliance on content published on this site. See our Terms of Use for the full provisions.
Reporting errors
If you spot something wrong — a factually inaccurate answer, outdated information, broken link, or other issue — please tell us. We take corrections seriously and update or retract content as needed. Contact our editorial team.
